During Monday’s Premier League clash at Goodison Park, Everton and Arsenal will both be looking to rebound from devastating midweek setbacks.

The Toffees were defeated 4-1 by Liverpool in the Merseyside derby, while Mikel Arteta’s team were defeated 3-2 by Manchester United.

Team News

Calvert-Lewin, Everton’s outstanding player, is still recovering from a thigh ailment, but Tom Davies is out, while Salomon Rondon suffered a hamstring injury in the Merseyside derby.

Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina have a chance to play on Monday, while Mason Holgate’s return from suspension will provide a much-needed defensive boost for Benitez.

Alex Iwobi or Anthony Gordon, both ex-Arsenal players, should profit from Rondon’s absence this week, and the latter might be given the start after replacing the Venezuelan in midweek.

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka was fit enough to start against Old Trafford, but long-term injured players Sead Kolasinac and Granit Xhaka are still out, while Emile Smith Rowe is a slight doubt due to discomfort.

Bernd Leno, the team’s backup goalkeeper, is also suffering from a groin issue, but he was never going to replace Ramsdale, and Nuno Tavares will try to keep Kieran Tierney out of the lineup once more.

With Arteta unlikely to drop Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang despite his recent lack of ruthlessness, Saka’s probable return to the starting XI could cause problems for Gabriel Martinelli.

Everton possible starting lineup:
Pickford; Coleman, Godfrey, Keane, Digne; Townsend, Doucoure, Allan, Gordon; Gray; Richarlison

Arsenal possible starting lineup:
Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tavares; Partey, Lokonga; Saka, Odegaard, Smith Rowe; Aubameyang
